Watercolor Nails

These are absolutely some of my favorite nails. They are so incredibly easy to do and they look really cool (: Just paint your nails whatever base color you want, mine is "White On" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, and then put dots of colors in the corner (one color at a time). Take a tooth pick and pull it through the dot a few times. That's all! Add a top coat and Viola!

The colors used for my dots are:
"Fushia Power" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
"Blue for you" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
and some purpley color by Forever 21's Love and Beauty

Black Tip French!

Well unfortunately I had to attend a funeral the other day, and I figured that wearing bright purple nails wouldn't be such a great idea. These are what I cam up with! They're simple and elegant (: The black is "What's a Jack?" by OPI and the base color is "Snowflake Pink" by Revlon. I stamped the flower on with "White On" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails. Help to Stop Biting Your Nails!

I know it's hard. I literally got over the habit a few months ago (I peeled them not bit them, but same concept)! Here are some tips on how to make this process easier. The first one is the most important in my opinion...

  1. Paint your nails! If you have an awesome design on your nails, it's much harder to destroy it! Plus, who likes the taste of nail polish - yuck!
  2. Dip your fingers in nail polish remover in the morning (non-acetone), the taste will help deter your fingers from getting near your mouth.
  3. Think. Think of everywhere your hands have been that day - door knobs, chairs, kitchen counters, trays, etc... Do you really want all of those things to be in your mouth?
  4. Finally, wear a rubber band. Every time you bite or peel your nails, snap it! Soon you'll associate biting/peeling your nails with a stinging pain.
Hope this helps! If you're still really having trouble, I can give you some more tips!

Scentsational Mango!

Okay so for my birthday, my friend got me OPI's new "Scentsational Minis!" They're all bright colors with awesome scents (: My favorite thing is that they aren't the typical orange, lemon, apple, etc... There's citris, mango, blueberry, tutti fruti, watermelon and cherry! This post is going to show you mango! These are primarily top coats since they're so sheer, but that's perfect since you want the scented polish on top anyways.

Here's a picture of the orange I used under it, Marmalade by Revlon. I used two coats of "Marmalade" and one coat of the Mango.

Nails on a Budget

If you're always seeing these blogs where the girls all have every tool they could ever need and wonder how they can buy it all, you're not alone! Here are a few things that I have found can be switched for their more expensive doppelganger!

Cutitcle Oil --> Olive oil
Nail Polish Thinner --> Nail polish remover
Bad Tasting Nail Polish (for nail biters) --> Nail polish remover
Dotting Tool --> Pencil (the sharper the tip, the smaller the dot)
Pedicure for removing calluses --> Ped Egg (I love this thing so much)
Nail Art Colors --> One thin paint brush (make any color a nail art color)

Bold Feathers

I wanted to do something different last night and this is it! I really like them, they're very edgy (: For the accent nails, I was going to do polka dots along the lines.. but I thought sparkles would look cool too (: The color underneath is that blue color from Forever 21 that I couldn't find the specific name for, and the lines and sparkles are from my Shany nail art polishes (:

Here are a bunch more pictures.. The blue doesn't completely contrast the blue but the subtlety is nice (:

How to Get Stronger Nails!

Are your nails weak? Do they start to peel before they're as long as you want them to be? Well here are a few tips that will hopefully help that situation!

  1. Don't use acrylics. It's as simple as that! Everyone knows that they weaken your nails, but sometimes it's just too hard to resist. Even though you might get them because your nails are weak, if you let them rejuvenate for a few months, they should get better.
  2. Paint a clear base coat under the tips of them to make them less prone to breaking.
  3. Drink water! Did you know that on average you should be drinking about nine glasses of water a day?! Most of us don't even drink half of that and, trust me, your nails can feel the difference. Along with stronger nails, you'll see a difference in your skin and hair. Hydrate!
  4. Stop biting! I know it sounds obvious but biting your nails really wears them down. It also can interfere with your cuticles and give you hang nails ):

Rainbow Polka Dots

These are so cute! The base coat is "Jessica" by Julep, and all the dots are made from Shany Nail Cosmetics Nail Art colors.. I used the Konad Plate m79. The yellow didn't show up too well so I used the dotting tool to go over them. Here are more pictures (:

"Jessica" and a "Nail Caviar" Substitute

So I'm sure you've all heard of nail caviar.. Well I think it's ridiculously expensive and even thought I thought it was cool.. I just didn't think it was worth it. But when I was at Michael's I saw these microbeads.. And I decided to try them out! I think they look really good (: What about you guys? The blue is "Jessica" by Julep.. I LOVE it. I really am obsessed. It's only fitting that it's named after me (; The microbeads came in a set from the brand Recollections.

Birthday Nails!

Well I did these nails for my birthday, I think they're so fun! I love them (:

So I've been seeing these nails around pinterest lately.. and I saw a design that particularly caught my eye on katrinasnailblog.blogspot.com. So this is my take on them!

The red/orange color: "Mandy" by Julep
The sparkles: Silver sparkles by Love & Beauty
Lavender: "Lacey Lilac" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
White: "White On" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails

I don't remember what all the dots are sorry (:

Champagne and Sparkles!

This manicure feels so elegant (: I love pinkish color underneath, it applies so well and smoothly! And the OPI sparkles are gorgeous. If I had this top coat before, I definitely would have worn it to one of my proms.

The base coat is: Revlon "Snowflake Pink"
The sparkles are: Sephora by OPI "It's Bouquet with Me"

How do you guys like this? Do you agree that it's elegant, or is it too sparkley?

Patina by Love & Beauty

I adore this color. It's definitely in one of my all time favorites. It amazes me that such cheap nail polish from Forever 21 can look so good. This is two thin coats and it looks amazing. I just couldn't even bear to put nail art on it.. it looks great just the way it is! Hope you guys like it too!

The weird (and annoying) thing about Forever 21's nail polish is that they don't have a name on their cap.. SO! I typed in the product number into their website and it came up with nothing. "Patina" was next to the barcode under the description though so I typed that into their search bar too, and it came up with "Fairy Tale Blue," but that had a different product number. It also highly resembles "Shimmering Ocean" from their website (but again, they don't have the same product number). So sorry, I can't get you the exact name ): But here are the links to both colors.. Enjoy!

Bright Geometric Shapes!

Well these definitely took more effort than most nails! I did the orange which is Revlon "Marmalade" and expected to be able to wait about thirty minutes then put the tape on to make the lines.. But it would NOT dry. I even waited an hour and it was just not happening. So I did the orange and then went to bed so I wouldnt have to worry about it. The next day it was all good (: Note to self: use a quick dry polish for the base when using tape!

Colors:
Orange: "Marmalade" by Revlon
Yellow: "Lightening" by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
Blue: "Blue me Away" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails

Here are more photos... Please excuse the henna...

Alien Nails!

Well I have no idea why I think these are space-y, but it probably has something to do with the fact that I was watching Thor while doing them. They were incredibly easy to make, just used my dotting tool. I  made the design and then used a matte top coat by OPI.. this is what the base color looked like without it...

Colors: Grey/Silver: "Gunmetal" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
Lavender: "Lacey Lilac" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
Black: "Where's the Jack?" by OPI

Chelsea Square by Nails Inc.

This is probably one of my favorite nail polishes of all time. It is a very thick coat of sparkles - this is only one and a "half" coats (some nails didn't need any extra). It took a while to get all this off, but I have a special way of removing polish like this without as much effort. I wore this for about five days and I didn't get any chipping, just tip wear. That would have been avoided if I was good about reapplying my top coat every other day or so. Well anyways! Hope you like it!
